Geraldine M. "Jeri" (Davis) Alonzo

UTICA – Geraldine M. “Jeri” Alonzo, 68, of Utica passed away Friday, July 13, 2012 at her home, surrounded by her loving family.

Memorial services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Tuesday, July 17 ^th , 2012 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Elder Charles Dillard officiating.  Visitation will be held from noon until service time on Tuesday at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens in LaSalle at a later date.

Jeri was born December 5, 1943 in LaSalle, a daughter of Myrel Lee and Gertrude (Reynolds) Davis.  She married Louis J. Alonzo August 20, 1960 in Ottawa.  She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Louis, of Utica; her children, Jeffery Louis (Dennise Elizabeth) Alonzo, Kelly Renee (Joseph) Sorrentino, Melanie Kei Alonzo, and Gina Pilar Alonzo, all of San Clemente, California; her grandchildren, Jenna Renee and Jade Marie Sorrentino and Sophia Monique Alonzo; as well as many nieces and nephews, several of whom she considered her own children.  Jeri was preceded in death by her parents, Gertrude Marie “Crea” and Myrel Lee “Mickey” Davis; brothers and sisters, James, Leroy, Louie, Mary, Trudy, Margaret, Maxine, Robert, Barbara and Jesse.

Jeri was a hair stylist and licensed cosmetologist.  Since 1973 she owned and operated Jeri’s Shoppe in Utica.  She was a member of the Ottawa Kingdom Hall Congregation of Jehovah’s Witnesses.  She was a former EMT for the Utica Ambulance Service and a volunteer for cancer care.  In her spare time she could be found gardening, cooking and traveling.  Jeri was very devoted to her family and cherished the time she spent hosting her family and friends in her home.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Vitas Hospice
