Witha J. Hougas

Witha J. Hougas, 96, of the Ravlin Congregate Center, Ottawa, died Friday, December 29, 2006 at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Gladfelter Funeral Home. with Elder Arlene Jackson of the Community of Christ Church officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in Section Cemetery in Miller Twp. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Mrs. Hougas was born March 22, 1910, in Nebraska to Carl Christian and Carrie Marie (Rassmussen) Jacobsen. She married Elmer Talbert Hougas on August 17, 1940, in Dubuque, Iowa. He died January 9, 1990. She taught in a one-room school grades 1-8 in Neb. Then she was a beautician in Forest Park and Oak Park, Ill. for several years and then in Nebraska for several years before she got married. She was a member of the Community of Christ Church in Miller Twp. She is survived by many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband; four brothers, Arthur, William, Peter and Raymond Jacobsen; and two sisters, Hartha Hougas and Marguerite Hougas. Memorials may be directed to the church or to Section Cemetery Association.
