William "Bill" Wilson

OTTAWA - William "Bill" Wilson, age 76, of Ottawa, passed away at 4:59 a.m. Saturday, December 5, 2009 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, December 10, 2009 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Rev. Nathan Kramer officiating. Interment with military honors by the Ottawa Veterans Honor Guard will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Ace Hamrick, Dusten and Chad Wilson, Nick Keegan, Don Gabehart and Craig Eiben. William Wilson was born December 14, 1932 at Ottawa, Illinois, a son of William Edward and Violet (Carter) Wilson. He married Darlene Winchester January 31, 1954 at the courthouse in Ottawa. Bill is survived by his wife, Darlene; children, Steve and Jim Wilson of Ottawa and Darla Keegan also of Ottawa; a brother, Duane Wilson of Kievley, Kentucky; and a sister, Edith Hamrick of Washington, West Virginia. He also leaves grandchildren, Dusten Wilson of Marseilles, Chad Wilson, Maize Wilson, Tannis Wilson, Nick Keegan, MacKenzie Knight, Micah Wilson, Kobe Wilson and Nichelle Wilson all of Ottawa; and three great-grandchildren, Hueston Wilson, Brayden Wilson and Emma Wilson all of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by two sons, William Edward Wilson IV and Michael James Wilson; one daughter, Vicki Wilson, one granddaughter, Kyla Marie Wilson and one brother Leo Joseph Wilson. Bill was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, the American Legion and the Local 150 Retiree's Club. Bill served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. An outdoorsman, Bill enjoyed hunting, fishing and horse racing. He also had a love for bluegrass music and dancing. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
