Weldon Perene Shaver

June 1, 1926 — April 12, 2007

Weldon Perene Shaver, 80, of Ottawa died Thursday, April 12, 2007, at Ottawa Pavilion. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Monday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Douglas Williams of Evangelical United Methodist Church officiating. Burial will be in Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles with full military honors. Visitation will be from 2 to 5 p.m. Sunday. Mr. Shaver was born June 1, 1926, in Marseilles, Ill., to Roy Walton and Daisy (Hodgson) Shaver. He married Claire Ione Atchley in Marseilles on April 4, 1947. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. He was a life member of the Marseilles Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a sheet metal mechanic for 44 years with the Sheet Metal 1 Local in East Peoria retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife. He was preceded in death by a brother Howard; and two sisters, Isabelle Bronely and Ellen Johnson. Pallbearers will be his nephews, Herbert, Kett and William Johnson, David Bedeker, Ron Atchley and Robert Arnold. Memorials may be directed to the Evangelical United Methodist Church or Easter Seals.
