Walter Rudnicky

Walter "Lauge" Rudnicky, age 87, of Sun City, Arizona, formerly of Ottawa, passed away at 7:50 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2010. Graveside services will be held 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, October 5th at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery with Rev. Jules Adator officiating. Military rites will be accorded by the Ottawa Veterans Organization. Visitation will be from 11:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Tuesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Walter was born November 25, 1922 at Naplate, Illinois, a son of Joseph and Mary (Jakowski) Rudnicky. He married Rita M. Nightingale July 2, 1949 at St. Mary's Church in Naplate. Rita preceded him in death May 20, 2002. Surviving are his daughters, Paula (Robert) Williams of Mesa, AZ and Gail (Nick) Leech of Peoria, AZ; and a sister, Nellie Bardson of Naplate. Two brothers, James and John Rudnicky preceded him in death. Walter retired from Libbey Owens Ford after 42 years service. He proudly served in the U.S. Coast Guard during World War II. Walter was a member of the glassworkers union. An avid antique collector, he also enjoyed woodworking
