Virginia Mae "Ginger" Scerini, 93, of Olympia, Wash., formerly of Ottawa, died Tuesday, September 25, 2007, in Olympia, Wash. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, October 6, at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home with an Eastern Star service scheduled by the Mary E. Chapter No. 270, Order of the Eastern Star at 6 p.m. during the visitation. Mrs. Scerini was born June 26, 1914, in Coburg, Kentucky, to Melvin and Susan (Caffee) Beard. She was married to Wilbur James "Bill" Scerini on September 7, 1935, at the Evangelical United Methodist Church in Ottawa. He died May 1, 1994. She retired from J.E. Porter in 1977. She was a member of the Mary E. Chapter No. 270, Order of the Eastern Star; White Shrine of Jerusalem No 35; and the Ladies Auxiliary of the Ottawa Commandery. She is survived by a son, Joseph M. Scerini of Ottawa; a daughter, Donna Marie Connors of Olympia, Wash.; eight grandchildren, Dennis "Kevin" Connors, Lisa Connors, Dan, William and Paul Scerini, Christle Anderson, Dan Jr. and Ralph Learned; sixteen great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Billy J.; six brothers, James, Donald, Paul, Edward, Robert and John Beard; and two sisters, Della Hicks and Sally Madson. Pallbearers will be her grandsons. Memorials may be directed to the Knights Templar Eye Foundation or to the Ottawa Masonic Temple.
