OTTAWA -- Virginia Alonzo, 79, of Ottawa, passed away at 4:05 p.m. Saturday, April 10, 2010 at Ottawa Regional Hospital and Healthcare Center. Funeral services will be at 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 14th at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Monty Harris of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in Oakwood Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. to service time Wednesday at the funeral home. Miss Virginia Alonzo was born June 15, 1930, in Ottawa to Maurilio and Josephine (Abarca) Alonzo. She is survived by six sisters, Maria (Manuel) Vasquez of Joliet, Josie Turner of Streator, Lana Alonzo of Spring Valley, Rita (Alvin "Mort") Cunningham of Streator, Lupe (Larry) Harms of Ottawa, Linda (Matt) Fitschen of Canton, Missouri; 3 brothers, Albert (Barbara) of Ottawa, Louis (Jeri) of Utica and Dan of Diamond; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Gabriel, Joseph and Cubert; and a sister, Isadora Alonzo. Virginia retired from Owens Glass Company in Streator in June of 1985 after 38 years of employment. She was a member of the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah Witnesses. Memorials may be directed to the family.
