Victoria T. (Almeda) (Almeda) Hensley

OTTAWA – Victoria T. (Almeda) Hensley, age 89, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, October 13, 2016 at Ottawa Pavilion.

Funeral services will be held Monday, October 17, 2016 at 1:00 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend Augustin Kassa officiating.  Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery.  Visitation will be held from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.  Pallbearers will be Jaime, Kenneth, and Craig Cabrera, Jim, Ed, and Clint Almeda, Joe Almeda, Jr., and Steve Almeda, Jr.  Honorary pallbearers will be John Cabrera, Jr., Trini Almeda, Ron Arroyo, and Frank Arroyo, Jr.

Victoria was born December 23, 1926 in Ottawa, the daughter of Trinidad and Leonore (Huerta) Almeda.  She married Sidney Grant Hensley March 9, 1968 in Joliet, Illinois.  He preceded her in death January 19, 2013.  Victoria is survived by three brothers, Francis “Peppy” Almeda of Ottawa, Trinidad Almeda of Utica, and Steve Almeda of Ottawa; two sisters, Herlinda Almeda and Josie Jeffries, both of Ottawa; several nieces and nephews; as well as several great and great-great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; three brothers, Joseph, Raymond, and Anthony Almeda; and two sisters, Catherine Arroyo and Mary Cabrera.

Victoria was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church.  She had been employed by Owens Illinois Glass Company for 25 years.  Her hobbies included playing the slots, shopping, going to flea markets, and traveling.  Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
