OTTAWA - Victor W. Zimmerman, Sr., age 76, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, July 28, 2010 at his residence. Memorial services will be held 3:00 p.m. Saturday, August 14 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Pastor Ivan Plemmons and Rev. Doug Zimmerman officiating. Flag presentation ceremonies will be performed by the Ottawa Veteran Organization. There will be a gathering for family and friends at the home of Victor Zimmerman, Jr. following the services. Victor W. Zimmerman, Sr. was born March 20, 1934 at Norwalk, Wisconsin, a son of Reuben and Anna (Walterman) Zimmerman. He married Nancy I. Simkins April 11, 1964 at Downers Grove, Illinois. Surviving are his wife, Nancy of Ottawa; children, Kenneth (Kathy) Zimmerman of Roselle, IL, Michael Kreinbrink of Addison, IL, Darren (Lizabeth) Kreinbrink of Millington, IL, Kevin Kreinbrink of Sheridan, IL and Victor (Diane) Zimmerman, Jr. of Ottawa. He also leaves grandchildren, Zachary, Benjamin, Nick, Brittin and Zane Zimmerman, Kara, Kassie, Kevin and Colin Kreinbrink; and step-grandchildren, David, Matthew, Corrin, Jana and Jacob. He was preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Byron. Mr. Zimmerman was a member of Bible Baptist Church. He proudly served in the U.S. Army. He had been employed at Cock Robin Ice Cream Company in Naperville. He was a former member of the DuPage Drifters Camping Club and the National Campers and Hikers Association. For the past couple of years he served as a greeter at the Ottawa Walmart. Victor enjoyed refinishing furniture, boating, fishing and going to baseball and football games with his grandchildren. Memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society.
