Thomas T. Tavares

STREATOR - Thomas T. Tavares, age 67, of Streator, passed away 6:30 a.m. Monday, April, 26, 2010 at Edward Hospital in Naperville. Private family services will be held. Gladfelter Funeral Home in Ottawa is assisting the family with arrangements. Thomas was born February 15, 1943 at Fall River, Massachusetts, a son of Alphonse and Evelyn (Rebello) Tavares. He married Deborah Haefner on September 16, 1990 at Yorkville. He is survived by his wife, Deborah of Streator; his children, Thomas J. (Carol) Tavares of Fall River, Mass., Brandi (Jim) Czenk of Streator and W. Scott (Charlene) Billiot of Indiana. He also leaves brothers, Alphonse Tavares of Everett, Wash., Richard Tavares and his late wife Ann Marie of Swansea, Mass., Ronald (Freida) Tavares of Norton, Mass. And Lawrence (Patricia) Tavares of Westport, Mass; thirteen grandchildren, one great-granddaughter and numerous nieces and nephews. His parents preceded him in death. Mr. Tavares was the retired owner and operator of Tom's Construction Services. He attended St. Anthony's Catholic Church in Streator and was a member of the Eagles and the NRA. Thomas enjoyed fishing, boating, woodworking and target shooting.
