OTTAWA - Thomas John Donahue, age 65 , of Ottawa, passed away 9:48 p.m. Wednesday, May 19, 2010, at Pleasant View following a brief illness. Private family services will be held with interment at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Thomas John Donahue was born August 11, 1944, in Ottawa, Illinois, a son of Thomas Matthew and Frances Catherine (Fitzgerald) Donahue. Surviving are his children, Susan (Curt) Read of Plano, Thomas (Jenny) Donahue of Sandwich, and Robert (Tara) Donahue of Littleton, Colorado. He also leaves a brother, Michael (Carrie) Donahue of Hawthorn Woods, Illinois, and three grandchildren, Kaylee Read of Plano and Kendra and Grace Donahue of Sandwich. He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Kay Donahue, and his beloved dog, Sierra (Sarah). Mr. Donahue worked as a general music teacher and band teacher/director for many years, having taught in Milton Pope and Tonica Grade Schools and Marseilles, Seneca, and Marquette High Schools. He also worked at Santucci's Music Center teaching private music lessons. In his later years, Mr. Donahue worked at the front desk of Pleasant View Lutheran Home. He loved spending time with his family, fishing, boating, computer technology, and, of course, music. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude Children's Hospital.
