Sylvia Lea Downey

Sylvia Lea Downey, 78, of Ottawa, died Saturday, July 14, 2007, at home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Bill Clark of the Marseilles Church of the Nazarene officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9 a.m. Tuesday until the time of services at the funeral home. Mrs. Downey was born August 27, 1928, in Ottawa, to Frank and Edna (Hunter) Eutis. She married Donald Joseph Downey, Sr. on May 27, 1946, in Ottawa. He died January 20, 1997. She is survived by two daughters, Donna (Sam) Stamos of Lorain, Ohio, and Betty Lee of Ottawa; three sons, Leo (Valerie) Downey of Sheridan, William (Teri) Downey of Marseilles and Frank Downey of Ottawa; twelve grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Paula Downey of La Salle. A son, Donald Downey, Jr, preceded her in death. Pallbearers will be her grandchildren. Memorials may be directed to the family.
