CLAWSON, MICHIGAN - Susan Beth Heermann-Osborne, 48, originally of Ottawa, passed away on Thursday, May 19, 2011, at Beaumont Hospital in Royal Oak, Michigan. Susan was born in Ottawa, Illinois, on June 1, 1962, to Ed and Virginia Heermann of rural Ottawa. She graduated from Rutland Grade School in rural Ottawa, was a member of the Ottawa Township High School Class of 1980, and earned her bachelor's degree in fashion merchandising from Northern Illinois University in 1984. Susan excelled at her profession and rose as a retail manager throughout her 27-year career. She got her start working for Montgomery Ward Company, first at the Peru Mall in Peru, Illinois, and later in the Rochester, Minnesota, area and in suburban Detroit, Michigan. During the last 19 years she managed retail stores in suburban Detroit for Jo-Ann Fabric & Crafts. Susan was devoted to her only child, Hudson Nicholas, and spent many hours cheering him on in his school and sports activities in Clawson, Michigan. Her family and her home were precious to her as were her dogs. She loved to sew, quilt, craft, and shop. She also enjoyed travel to tropical places. She is survived by Hudson, her son; Thomas Townslay, her soul mate of nearly 20 years; her parents Edward and Virginia (Applebee) Heermann of rural Ottawa; her three sisters Loretta (Joseph) Stenger of Yorkville, Illinois, Linda (Greg) Gebhardt of rural Ottawa, and Margaret (Mike) Davis also of Ottawa; nine nieces and nephews; seven great nieces and nephews; and aunts, uncles and cousins, many in the Ottawa area. Susan is preceded in death by her grandparents, one niece, and several aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be held 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Monday, May 23rd, at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Services will follow at 1:30 p.m. on Monday at the Chapel of the Good Shepherd at Oakwood Memorial Park with Reverend Duane Kaufman officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. Memorials to honor Susan may be submitted in her name to the American Cancer Society, 143 First Street, Batavia, Illinois 60510.
