OTTAWA – Steven M. Hanna, age 59, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday. December 30, 2017 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Funeral Mass will be 1:00 p.m. Friday, January 5, 2018 at St. Columba Church with Rev. Mike Driscoll officiating and Rev. David Kipfer concelebrating. Visitation will be from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday, January 4th and from 12-12:30 p.m. Friday, January 5th at Gladfelter Funeral Home.
Steve was born May 30, 1958 in Libertyville, Illinois. He is survived by his Mother and Father, Robert and Mary (Ledesma) Hanna; his Fiancé, Katie Korn; Children, Jessica Hanna of Hammond, IN and Michael (Angie) Hanna of Beach Park, IL; Grandchildren, Miranda Nicole Cardin, Michael Albert Hanna and Ethan Robert Hanna. Steve leaves a Brother, Philip Hanna of Kenosha, WI; Sisters, Laura Hanna of Kenosha, WI and Tina (David) Schlichting of Plymouth, WI; Step Daughter, Courtney (Todd) Gay of Ottawa and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his biological father, Albert Beddla and his grandparents, Antonio and Petra Ledesma.
Steve retired from Exelon in 2016. Nicknamed the “Hammer” he enjoyed golfing with his friends and family. He also enjoyed fishing and traveling. Watching the Cubs win the World Series was a shining moment in his life, but his true passion for sports was his love for the Minnesota Vikings. Known for his great sense of humor, “Hammer” always knew what to say with perfect timing! Steve was a loving and devoted family man. He always loved his “Mudder Dear.” Memorial contributions may be made to the American Lung Association or the Foundation for Sarcoidosis Research.
