Stephen Charles Baiz

Stephen Charles Baiz, age 60, of Ancona, passed away Monday, November 12, 2018 at OSF St. Francis Medical Center, Peoria.

Memorial services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday, November 17th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with the Reverend David Kipfer officiating.  Interment will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery.  Visitation will be from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Stephen was born July 9, 1958 in Ottawa, a son of Salvador and Barbara (Rodriguez) Baiz.  He was formerly married to Yvette Hermosillo.  Stephen is survived by a son, Jordan Baiz of Ancona; sisters, Cindy (Brian) Christmann of Ottawa and Cathy Fowler of Marseilles; nieces and nephews, Ryan, Bradley and Brent Miller, Bryan, Connor and Malorie Fowler.  He was preceded in death by his parents, a brother-in-law, Mark Fowler; an aunt, Angela Padilla and her husband Jerome; uncles Frank and John Baiz.

Stephen was a member of St. Columba Church, Knights of Columbus and was employed at BASF.  He loved the great outdoors which led him to belong to Hook and Bullets in Galva, IL and Sandy Ford Sportsman’s Club in Streator.  He enjoyed fishing, golfing, cross country skiing, camping and canoeing.  Stephen was an avid Blackhawks fan and coached basketball at St. Columba and St. Francis for 10 years.  He enjoyed music and playing the guitar.  He treasured time spent with his son, Jordan and all his family.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
