Stella Leech

Stella Leech, 100, of Streator, formerly of Ottawa died Tuesday, January 1, 2008, at Countryside Haven in Streator. Memorial services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, January 5, at the First Baptist Church in Ottawa the Rev. Peter Brick officiating. Burial of the cremains will be in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. There is no visitation. Gladfelter Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements. Mrs. Leech was born October 6, 1907, in Dana, Ill., to Jake and Etta (Conley) Klesath. She married James O. Lawrence on December 17, 1927, in Ottawa. He died September 23, 1964. She then married Otis Leech February 14, 1970. He died April 5, 1988. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Ottawa and the Rebekah Lodge both for 70 years. She was formerly employed at Sears Roebuck and Carson Pirie Scott as a clerk. She is survived by a son, Oliver (Jeanne) Lawrence of Streator, two grandchildren Jill Thorp of Streator and Cindy Brown of Joliet; five great grandchildren; and three great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a twin son, James Lawrence; a sister, Mary Cusac; and two brothers, Lloyd and Vernon Klesath. Memorials may be directed to the First Baptist Church in Ottawa.
