Sheryl Lynn Troyan, age 65, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, April 19, 2015, at Rivershores in Marseilles.
Private family memorial services will be held at a later date. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Sheryl was born in Spring Valley Illinois on May 20, 1949, the daughter of Eldon and Ella Mae (Casagranda) Moss. She married Kenneth Troyan at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville. She is survived by her daughters, Melissa (Mark “Curly”) Troyan Walsh of Ottawa and Jennifer Troyan Jackson of Plainfield; grandchildren, Avery Jo and Ella Jane Jackson; and her former husband, Ken (Linda) Troyan of McNabb.
Sheryl attended Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Granville. She was part of the first consolidated graduating class from Putnam County High School in Granville in 1967. She also attended Illinois Valley Community College. From 1992-2004 Sheryl worked as the secretary for the superintendent of the Putnam County School District. She enjoyed vegetable gardening, canning, and reading, many times reading two or more books at one time. She also loved cooking and passing down favorite family recipes. Sheryl was devoted to her family and cherished her time spent with her children and grandchildren.
One of Sheryl’s favorite poems was written by her mother, Ella Mae Moss, in 1944:
“Love is everything a heart can hold-
But only for a minute!
For to love is to give
And to give is to know.”
Memorial donations may be made to the family in care of Gladfelter Funeral Home.
