Sheila A. McQuen, age 81, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday, June 27th, at Ottawa Pavilion.
Born March 12, 1940, in East St. Louis, IL, she was the daughter of Naomi (Bourland) and Walter Pauly. A homemaker much of her life, she also worked as a bus driver for the Braidwood, IL, school district. She and her late husband enjoyed traveling in their RV, spending summers at the South Wilmington Sportsman’s Club in Essex, IL, and winters at Circle T RV Park in Mission, TX. She most recently resided at Heritage Woods in Ottawa, IL, where she was surrounded by the friendship and support of residents and staff alike. She will be remembered for her southern twang, caring actions, and feisty spirit. She was a loving and devoted daughter, wife, mother, grandmother, and friend.
Survived by two children Lori Vaughn of Arkansas and Scott (Brandy) McQuen of Ottawa; six grandchildren Jeffrey (Traci), Jessica and Heather Vaughn; Joshua Bourland; Lauren and Samuel McQuen; and many great-grandchildren and beloved cousins.
Preceded in death by her parents, two daughters Deanna and Dawn Fisher, husband Thomas McQuen, and son Jeffrey McQuen.
Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home will be in charge of cremation, and private services will be held at a later time. Memorial donations may be made to VITAS Hospice or a charity of the donor’s choosing.
