Sheila R. (Casey) Herzog

OTTAWA – Sheila R. Herzog, 72, of Ottawa passed away Saturday, June 13, 2015, at Morris Hospital.
Memorial services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening, June 18, 2015 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Pastor Grace Oh officiating. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening at the funeral home.
Sheila was born July 20, 1942 in Ottawa, the daughter of Harry and Alice (Johnson) Casey. She married Otto Herzog January 28, 1961 in Ottawa. Surviving are her husband of 54 years, Otto, of Ottawa; her daughter, Candi (Mark) Cavaletti of Chicago; her grandchildren, Ben, Alyse, and Mallory Cavaletti; as well as several very special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Calvin “Butch” Casey.
Sheila was a member of the Evangelical United Methodist Church of Ottawa. She had been a nurse’s aide for Ottawa Care Center, now Ottawa Pavilion as well as working for Flowers and Fantasies Bridal Shop of Ottawa. Sheila had also been a former Campfire Girl leader. In her leisure, Sheila enjoyed getting together with lady friends she had worked with as well as playing Bunco. She was an avid collector, collecting plates, Norman Rockwell figurines, and porcelain dolls. Sheila loved to shop, particularly when it came to shopping for her daughter and grandchildren. She also enjoyed decorating her home, which she did extensively at Christmas, her favorite holiday. Memorial contributions may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
