Samuel Leroy Manies

Samuel Leroy Manies, 82, of Ottawa died Thursday, January 10, 2008, at the Veterans Home at La Salle. Memorial services will be held 2 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home with the Rev. Robert Callison officiating. Entombment of the cremains will be in the Shrine of Rest Mausoleum in Oakwood Memorial Park. Mr. Manies was born May 8, 1925, in Bristol, Virginia to Lawrey and Margaret Helen (Odham) Manies. He married Susie Billington Scott, January 2, 1987, in San Diego, Calif. He was a veteran of World War II, Korean Conflict and Vietnam with the U. S. Navy with 20 years of service. He also retired from civil service.He was a member of the Victory Fellowship Church. He is survived by his wife; three stepchildren, Penny Sue Scott of San Diego, Calf., Bruce Robert (Susan) Scott of Ottawa and Bradford Dwayne Scott of San Diego, Calif.; and three step-grandchildren, Steffen J., Robin L. and Roberta Nanette Scott.
