Ruthann C. (Simpson) Leason

April 15, 1939 — June 30, 2017

OTTAWA – RuthAnn C. Leason, age 78, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, June 30, 2017 at Pleasant View Lutheran Home.

Funeral services will be 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 3rd at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Rev. Duane Kaufman officiating.  Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.

RuthAnn was born April 15, 1939 at Sublette, Illinois, a daughter of Robert and Marie (Parks) Simpson.  She married Calvin Leason July 11, 1959 at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Compton, IL.  She is survived by her husband, Calvin; children, Terry (Ron) Wilson of Grand Ridge, Toni (Brent) Schueler of Ottawa, Peggy (David) Achenbach of El Cajon, CA and Chuck Leason (fiancé Sue Schwartz) of Plainfield; and grandchildren, Erin Wilson, Sara (Josh) Lowman, Jared Achenbach, Rachel Achenbach, Diana (Eddie) Otstott and Billy Schwartz.  She was preceded in death by a brother, Gale Simpson.

RuthAnn was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.  She retired from Farm and Fleet where she took care of the shoe department.  RuthAnn was active in the Women’s Bowling Association, served as a Campfire Leader, was in charge of the PTA and served on the Board for Summer School Programs.  She enjoyed gardening, but her main pleasure was her family and grandchildren.  She particularly enjoyed watching her granddaughters’ softball games.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.  To share a memory or light a candle, please visit www.gladfelterfuneralhome or Gladfelter Funeral Home on Facebook.
