Rudolph G. Halm

Rudolph G. "Rudy" Halm, 92, of Ottawa, died Saturday, January 13, 2007, at Rivershores Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Marseilles. Mass of Christian burial will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, January 17th, at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church, with the Rev. Gerald J. Meyer as celebrant. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Tuesday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with a liturgical prayer at 4 p.m. and Wednesday morning at the funeral home from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Mr. Halm was born February 18, 1914, in Ottawa, to Henry J. and Julia (Ellwart) Halm. He married Rosina "Rose" L. Kastler on September 14, 1939, in Ottawa. She died June 6, 2005. He worked over 35 years as a carpenter at Libbey-Owens-Ford Glass Co. He was a member of St. Francis Catholic Church, Joy in the Spirit and praise and worship prayer groups and Glassworkers Local #19, AARP and Sacred Heart Auxiliary. He is survived by two sons, Gary J. (Joyce) Halm and Thomas C. (Carol) Halm both of Ottawa; eight grandchildren, Karen (Gene) Lamis, Kathi (Troy) Hurt, Kristy (Paul) Gillham and Kimberly (Jason) Kotecki, and Sarah, Rachel, Jacob and Joseph Halm; five great grandchildren. and two brothers, Arthur (Mary) Halm and Howard Halm, all of Ottawa. He was preceded in death by two brothers, John and Raymond; and three sisters, Christine Halm, Irene Politte and Gertrude LeRoy. Pallbearers will be David Roth, Kenneth Kastler, Troy Hurt, Allan Halm, Paul Gillham and Roy Valdez. Honorary pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Karen Lamis, Kathi Hurt, Kristy Gillham and Kimberly Kotecki, and Sarah, Rachel, Jacob and Joseph Halm. Memorial contributions may be directed to St. Francis Improvement Fund; Arthritis Foundation and American Diabetes Association.
