OTTAWA - Ronald L. "Weasel" Defenbaugh, age 69, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday morning, January 5, 2012 at his home. Celebration of his life will be held at 7:00 p.m. Sunday, January 8, 2012 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend Greg Nicholl officiating. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Ronald was born February 25, 1942 in Streator, Illinois, a son of Loren and Margaret (Tingle) Defenbaugh. He married Ruth E. Fleming July 26, 1986 in Ottawa. He is survived by his wife, Ruth, of Ottawa; three daughters, Ronda (Jon) Grigalunas of Oswego, and Marcy (Bob) Carrera and Maggie (Sean) Walker, both of Ottawa; a step daughter, Tracy (Tony) Rhodes of Ottawa; one sister, Diane (James) Voborsky of Rhinelander, WI; two nieces, Anita (Kevin) Torgerson and Terry (Kevin) Brehm; and his grandchildren, Amanda and Mickey Walker and Ryan, Kaitlynn, and Jamie Rhodes. His parents and a niece, Dawn, preceded him in death. Ronald was a land surveyor and had been employed by Rogina & Associates of Joliet. He was a former member of Sons of the American Legion and also the Ottawa Moose Lodge. In his leisure time Ronald enjoyed camping and canoeing. He also enjoyed skydiving as well as being a skydive instructor. Memorial contributions may be directed to Pet Project or the American Cancer Society.
