Ronald R. Cummings, 60, of Rockford, formerly of Ottawa, died Friday, May 4, 2007 at his home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday at Christ Lutheran Church, 425 Riverside, Belvidere, Ill. with the Rev. Dr. Timothy V. Olson officiating. Full military honors will be at the church. Cremation will be accorded. Visitation will be from 3 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the church. Visitation will be in Ottawa, Thursday from 4 to 8 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home. There will be no funeral service in Ottawa. Mr. Cummings was born January 8, 1947, in Ottawa, to Loren Austin & Dorothy Catherine (Lozier) Cummings. He married Cindy Lynn McMullen Zimmerman on April 30, 1993 in Ottawa. He served in the U.S. Army during the Viet Namn conflict. He was a roofer with Newtson Roofing Co. in Ottawa for 27 years and for the last six years he was a physical therapist for Med Choice in Rockford. He was a lifetime member of the Ottawa Rescue Squad, past president of the Rockford Viet Now, a member of the VFW of Rockford #9759 and a member of Christ Lutheran Church. He is survived by his wife, a daughter, Kim Cummings of Kankakee; a son, Kevin (Cara) Cummings of Wedron; three step daughters, Jackie (Tom) Salzman of Ottawa, Amy (Dave) McIntire of Granville, Ill., and Stacy Beard of Rockford; 11 grandchildren; two brothers, Ken (Pam) of Hillsboro, Oregon and Ted of Kona, Hawaii. He was preceded in death by his parents and a stepdaughter, Jamie Zimmerman. Pallbearers will be Austin Cummings, Tom Salzman, Randy Larson, Lester Burton, Ray Hughes and Wayne Hook. Memorials me be directed to the family.
