Robert "Bob" Hutchisson

Robert Lee Hutchisson, 74, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, September 28th at 9:40 pm at the Edward Hines Jr, VA Hospital, surrounded by his loved ones.

Memorial services with military honors by the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 Veterans Group Honor Guard will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, October 5th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Minister Robert Housby officiating.  Visitation will be from 1 to 3 p.m., prior to services Saturday.

Bob was born May 4, 1945 in Monmouth, Illinois, a son of Keith and Marian (Shauman) Hutchisson.  He married Mia Taira December 20, 2008 in Ottawa.  Surviving are his wife, Mia; children, Matthew and Nina Hutchisson; sisters, Louise (Bob) Slater and Ann Waterman; and a brother-in-law, Gary Cunningham.  He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, John Barron; and a sister, Carol Cunningham.

He was a graduate of Monmouth High School and Illinois Valley Community College.  He proudly served his country in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam War.  Bob was an active member and Deacon at the Church of Christ in Ottawa.  He was very generous, and willingly donated his time volunteering for PADS, Lily Pads and various other organizations.

He owned and operated a jewelry and coin business in Ottawa for over 35 years.  He enjoyed collecting marbles and antiques.  In earlier years, Bob was an amateur boxer.  Family and his church were the most important things in his life.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
