Roberta (Gage) Rooks

October 13, 1944 — February 17, 2014

OTTAWA Roberta Rooks, 69, of Ottawa, formerly of Grand Ridge, passed away Monday, February 17, 2014 at Rivershores Healthcare and Rehabilitation Center in Marseilles.

Graveside services will be held Thursday, February 20, 2014, at 2:00 p.m. at Riverview Cemetery in Marseilles with Reverend Duane Kaufman officiating.  Visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at Gladfelter Funeral Home.  Pallbearers will be Tim, Amnel, and Daniel Thompson, Ron Hayes, Dave Burress, and Larry Barnett.  Honorary pallbearer will be Braden Hayes.

Roberta was born October 13, 1944 in Ottawa, the daughter of Amnel and Aleene (Mayberry) Gage.  She married Bobby Rooks March 8, 1982 in Murfreesboro, TN.  He preceded her in death June 2008.  She is survived by her children, Ronald (Allison) Hayes of Ottawa, Janet (James) Gordon of Raleigh, NC, Timothy (Shannon) Thompson of Tennessee, Amnel (Sherri) Thompson of Tennessee, Bradley (Suzie) Thompson of Tennessee, and Daniel (Mary) Thompson of Tennessee; a brother, Paul (Dixie) Gage of Ottawa; her sisters, Betty (Jim) Hillison of Marseilles, Linda (Gary) Phoenix and Helen Seibert, both of Rogersville, TN; 21 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents; a son, James Michael Thompson; and three brothers.

Roberta’s pastimes included poetry and watching movies, particularly Westerns.  She loved the time spent with her family and especially cherished the times spent with her grandchildren.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
