OTTAWA - Robert E. "Bob" Posner, 80, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, May 30, 2011, at his residence. His wishes were to have no visitation or services. Gladfelter Funeral Home is honored to serve the Posner family. Robert was born August 5, 1930 in Ottawa, a son of Owen and Mary (Vincent) Posner. He married Patricia Rossiter at St. Columba Church in Ottawa on April 24, 1954. He is survived by Patricia J. Posner of Marseilles; two sons, Brian (Eileen) Posner of Greenbrier, Arkansas and Mark Posner of Ottawa; one brother, Alvie Posner of Los Gatos, California; and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; one daughter, Holley Beth; two brothers, Owen and Edward; four sisters, Madeline Duvall, Beatrice Farrell, Lorraine Hardin, and Jeanette Ward; two nieces; and one nephew. Robert was a former employee of Libbey-Owens-Ford, retiring in 1978. He proudly served his country as a United States Marine. He was a member of the National Rifle Association and the American Motorcyle Association. His hobbies included fishing and motorcycles. Robert's sons, Mark and Brian, both earned the title of State Motorcycle Champions due to the profound influence of their father on their lives. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
