Robert E. Jameson

Robert Elyot Jameson, 86, of Ottawa, died Friday, July 20th, at his home. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 28th, at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. Garry Briesacher officiating. Burial will be in Oakwood Memorial Park with full military honors. Visitation will be from 3 to 7 p.m. Friday at Gladfelter Funeral Home and one hour prior to the services at the church on Saturday. Mr. Jameson was born January 30, 1921, in Ottawa, to Merton Bernard and Lottie Grace (Rygh) Jameson. He was married to June Ellen Kosnick on December 7, 1947, in Ottawa. She died May 12, 1996. He was a veteran of World War II in the Army Air Corp serving in the Pacific Theater. He was a member of the American Legion and its chorus, and the Veterans of Foreign Wars. He was a member and past president of the Ottawa Noon Rotary, and the Ottawa Elks Lodge. He served two terms as a Ottawa city commissioner from 1991 to 1998. He worked at the National Paint Store from 1941 to 1966. He then became an agent for New York Life Insurance Company retiring in 2005. He was an active member of Trinity Lutheran Church, and served on the Pleasant View Luther Home board for many years. He is survived by three daughters, Debora Pope of Worcester, Mass, Laurel (Steven) Holland of Kensington, Calif., and Sara "Sally" Jameson of Eastham, Mass.; seven grandchildren, Stephanie, Zeke, Meaghan, Alexandra and Tzigane Pope, and Erik and Reuben Holland; five great grandchildren; and a brother, Howard (Norma) Jameson of Ottawa. Pallbearers will be Terry Kosnick, Mark Jameson, Erik and Reuben Holland and Zeke and Dominic Pope. Memorials may be directed to Trinity Lutheran Church; the Civil War Monument in Washington Park; or to the donor's choice.
