UTICA - Robert Allshouse, 73, of Utica, Illinois, passed away Tuesday, March 3, 2009 at Trinity Medical Center in Rock Island. Funeral services honoring his life will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Pastor Lloyd Johnson officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4 - 7 p.m. Friday at the funeral home. Robert was born April 16, 1935 at Vinton, Iowa, the son of Robert H. and Alice Chalupsky Allshouse. He married Beatrice Johnson October 28, 1960 at the Paul Street Bible Church which is now Grace Baptist Church in Ottawa. He is survived by his wife, Beatrice; a son, Scott Allshouse of Utica and twin granddaughters, Alisha Allshouse at Augustana College in Rock Island and Amanda Allshouse at Loyola University in Chicago. He was preceded in death by a daughter, Sandra in infancy. Mr. Allshouse was a member of the Utica Baptist Church where he served as trustee and treasurer. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army First Cavalry. He retired as a ticket agent for the Burlington Northern-Santa Fe Railroad after 44 years. He began his career with the railroad as a telegrapher, the most up to date communication system of the time. Robert enjoyed taking fishing trips to Wisconsin, Minnesota and Canada. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and Chicago White Sox. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Utica Baptist Church or the Utica Fire Department and Ambulance Service.
