OTTAWA – Richard V. Masinelli, 83, of Ottawa, passed away Friday, September 26, 2014, at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center.
Private services will be held at a later date. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting with arrangements.
Richard was born May 1, 1931 in Ottawa, the son of Attilio and Rose Masinelli. He is survived by his life partner, Jim Roots of Ottawa; his close friend, Charles Neubaum of Marseilles; his lovable pets, Sable and Sally; and many friends in the Ottawa area. Richard was preceded in death by his wife and his brother, Antonio Masinelli.
Richard was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. He proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Korean War, attaining the rank of Sergeant. Richard and his father owned and operated Attilio Shoe Repair in Ottawa. He enjoyed collecting antiques. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital or Adopt A Pet of Ottawa.
