Richard A. Lampson

Richard Allen Lampson, 76, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, March 11, 2025 at OSF St. Elizabeth Medical Center - Ottawa.

Funeral services will be held Noon Monday, March 17th at Gladfelter-Roetker Funeral Home with Pastor John Todd officiating. Military honors by the Ottawa American Legion Post 33 Honor Guard will follow services. Visitation will be from 11 am to Noon Monday.

Richard was born March 26, 1948 in Aurora, Illinois to Wayne David Lampson and Audrey (Treest) Lampson. He married Melanie Elam. Surviving are his wife, Melanie; children, Dawn Sheehan of West Brooklyn, IL, Richard (Kim) Lampson of LaSalle, Matt Lampson of West Brooklyn, Jeremy Elam of Ottawa, Timothy (Shannon) Hunt of Streator and Laura Johnston (Chris Patton) of Streator; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; as well as several nieces and nephews. He also leaves brothers, Dennis (Donna) Lampson and Kevin (Angie) Lampson of Paw Paw; and sisters Penny Johnson and Susan Milton of Paw Paw; and sisters-in-law Charlotte and Malinda Lampson and Erica (Jim) Lindloff. Richard was preceded in death by brothers, David, Larry, Jim and Steve Lampson and Tommy Bennett.

Richard proudly served in the U.S. Navy and retired from Caterpillar. Richard raised his children on the river where they all learned to enjoy boating and camping. He also spent many leisure time hours working on cars.
