Procopio "Peter" Alfano

Procopio “Peter” Alfano, age 64, of Ottawa, passed away Monday morning, November 27, 2017, at his home, surrounded by his loving family, following a courageous battle with cancer.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1:00 p.m. Thursday, November 30, 2017 at St. Columba Church with Father Jeff Windy officiating.  Entombment will follow at Valley Memorial Park in Spring Valley.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 8:00 p.m. Wednesday evening at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Rosary at 3:45 p.m.  Pallbearers will be Salvatore, Joey, Tony, and Peter Joseph Alfano, and Marvin and James Wawerski.  Honorary pallbearers will be Alessio Catarinicchia, Norino Vitale, Pete and Nathan Alfano, and Peter Mautino.

Peter was born August 23, 1953 in Chicago, the son of Pietro and Phyllis (Palazzolo) Alfano.  Peter is survived by his parents; his children, Phyllis Alfano Heredia of Kansas and Angela Alfano Larson of Ottawa and Peter, Sara, and Mariah Koontz; his stepchildren, Jennifer and Josh Britt; his brothers, Anthony (Debbie) Alfano of Spring Valley, Joseph (Nicolina) Alfano of Walnut, and Salvatore (Antonella) Alfano of Jacksonville, IL; his sisters, Josephine Alfano (Joe) Catarinicchia of Minonk, Lena Alfano (Frank) Mautino of Spring Valley, Santina Alfano (Damiano) Mazzola of Cinisi, Sicily, and Francesca Alfano (Sam) Vitale of Muscatine, IA; fourteen grandchildren; and his partner of 26 years, Lori Britt.  He was preceded in death by his maternal and paternal grandparents as well as his nephews, Chade and Leo Alfano and Richard Mautino.  He was also preceded in death by his stepson, Justin “Bubba” Britt.

Peter was a member of St. Columba Church.  He was also a volunteer firefighter for the Seneca Fire Department.  Peter loved animals and raised wolf dogs.  He was the owner-operator of Alfano’s Little Sicily as well as Augie’s Pizzaria of Utica.
