Pauline Ruth Walling

OTTAWA – Pauline Walling, age 89, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, December 31, 2012 at her residence.

Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10:00 a.m. Saturday at St. Patrick Catholic Church with Reverend Joseph Donton celebrating.  Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park.  Visitation will be from 4 to 7 p.m. Friday at Gladfelter Funeral Home with a Prayer Service at 3:45p.m.  Pallbearers will be Terry, Eric, Ryan and Thad Muffler, Greg Muffler, Jr. and Dean Nodland.  Honorary pallbearers will be Troy and Valerie McAvoy, Heather Elzer, Tara Haynes and Lisa Walling.

Pauline was born November 16, 1923 at Sheridan, Illinois, a daughter of Vernon and Ruby (Ugland) Morsch.  She married Forrest Muffler in May of 1946 at the First Church of the Nazarene in Ottawa, he preceded in death March 21, 1958.  She then married Robert Troup July 7, 1963, he also preceded her in death.  Pauline later married Walter Walling on October 4, 1969 at St. Patrick Church in Ottawa.  He preceded her in death March 31, 1997.

Surviving are her children, Greg (Jean) Muffler of Ottawa, Carolyn Muffler of Michigan and Jill Muffler of LaSalle; and a brother, James V. (Nancy) Morsch of Occee, Florida.  She also leaves her grandchildren, Dean (Kristal Ragan) Nodland, Greg (Brenda) Muffler, Jr., Terry (Amanda) Muffler, Ryan (Jami) Muffler, Heather (Bob) Elzer, Troy McAvoy, Valerie McAvoy, Tara (Todd) Haynes and Lisa Walling; and eighteen great-grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her sisters, Maxine Rorem and Diane Muffler and a step-son, Jack Walling.

Pauline was a member of St. Patrick Catholic Church and the Catholic Daughters of America.  She had been a nursing assistant at Ryburn King Hospital and later the Community Hospital of Ottawa.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Heart to Heart International or to the family.
