Paul S. Sampson

January 30, 1958 — July 3, 2016

Paul S. Sampson, age 58, of Ottawa, passed away Sunday morning, July 3, 2016, at home surrounded by his loving family.

Memorial Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. Monday, July 11, 2016 at St. Columba Church with the Reverend David M. Kipfer officiating.  A Celebration of Life will follow at the Knights of Columbus Hall.  Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Sunday evening with prayers at 3:45 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home.

Paul was born January 30, 1958 in Elmhurst, Illinois, the son of Paul E. and Gail M. (Lang) Sampson.  He married Julie Leverick November 24, 1984 at Immaculate Conception Church in Highland Park, Illinois.  Survived by his loving wife of 31 years, Julie, of Ottawa; his parents, Paul E. and Gail Sampson of Pingree Grove, Illinois; devoted children, Emily Sampson of Ottawa and Kara (Ben) Kohl of La Salle; two sisters, Laura (Bill) Harris of Arlington Heights and Suzanne (David Sarkis) Sampson of Hernando Beach, Florida; his brother, Tom (Karen) Sampson of Algonquin; his loving nieces, nephews, great-niece and cousins; and Paul’s devoted canine friend, Lila.  He was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Henry and Pauline (Lipke) Lang and paternal grandparents George and Jeanette (Darrow) Sampson, two uncles, Bob and George Sampson, and his aunt, Paulette Lang.

Paul was a member of St. Columba Church.  He was a graduate of Arlington High School where he won the Maine East Wrestling Tournament his sophomore year.  Paul was a Triangle Fraternity brother while attending the Milwaukee School of Engineering.  He was a CMO Engineer for Exelon at the LaSalle County Nuclear Station for 30 years, and was the developer of the Performance Centered Maintenance Program for Exelon, now in use throughout the Exelon Company.  He was the family computer guru.  His love of music drove him to create “Music Madness”, an entertainment and event service with a massive collection of music spanning decades.  Paul was a wonderful husband and father and cherished every moment spent with his family.  Memorial contributions may be directed to Pet Project, Doc’s Dogs For Vets (docsdogs4vets.com), St. Columba Church Building Fund, Veterans Now (www.veterans-now.com), St. Jude’s Childrens Research Hospital (stjude.org) or Triangles Fraternity MSOE Chapter, 1706 East Irving Place, Milwaukee, WI 53202.
