OTTAWA - Patricia A. Riebe, 79, of Ottawa passed away Friday, February 26, 2010 at her home surrounded by her family. Funeral services honoring her life will be Friday, March 5, 2010 at 10:00 a.m. at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Ottawa, with Reverend Nathan Kramer officiating. Interment will follow at Oakwood Memorial Park. Visitation will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Thursday evening at Gladfelter Funeral Home and from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. Patricia was born July 14, 1930 in Ottawa, a daughter of Robert and Alice (Patterson) Green. She married Harold E. Riebe November 26, 1949 at St. Columba Church. He preceded her in death March 24, 1999. She is survived by her children, Carol (John) Shue of Shorewood, Bob (Sis) Riebe of Utica, and Keith (Debbie) Riebe of Las Vegas, Nevada. Other survivors include one brother, Gerald Green of Streator; four sisters, Sue Striegel of New Jersey, A.J. Green and Barb Davis both of Streator, and Charlene Heermann of Florida; brothers and sisters in-law Paul (Bertha) Riebe of Utica, Earl (Grace) Riebe of Rutland, and Anita (Ernie) Lindsey of Plainfield; grandchildren, Jeff (Michelle) Etscheid of Ottawa, Jason (Suzannah) Etscheid of Utica, Doug Etscheid and special friend, Freida of Aurora, Sarah Riebe of Chicago, Kim Riebe of Utica, and Matthew and Tessa Riebe of Las Vegas NV; and three great grandchildren, Molly, Callie, and Bailey Etscheid. Mrs. Riebe was preceded in death by one daughter, Lori; three brothers, Paul, Chuck and Joe Green; one sister, Vicky Beard; and special friend, Bob Gage. Patricia was a member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church. She served in the Altar Guild and as a Sunday School Teacher. She was a member of the La Salle County Farm Bureau and Home Extension. She was actively engaged in farming with her husband and was often known for the meals provided in the fields. She enjoyed gardening, canning, and cooking. She loved to travel and enjoyed dancing, particularly the Polka. The highlight of her life was the time spent with her family. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. Memorial contributions are suggested to the Joliet Area Community Hospice or Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church.
