OTTAWA – Pam Shipley Cherry, 52, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday, May 29, 2012 at Rush University Medical Center in Chicago.

Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, June 2, 2012, at St. Francis of Assisi Church in Ottawa. Burial will follow at Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Friday evening with Rosary at 3:45 p.m. at Gladfelter Funeral Home.

Pam was born October 7, 1959 in Davenport, Iowa, a daughter of Ronald and Sandra (Holliday) Shipley. She married John Cherry May 30, 1998 at St. Patrick’s Church in Ottawa. Surviving are her husband, John, of Ottawa; two children, R.J. and Tyler, at home; her parents, Ron and Sandy Shipley of Ottawa; her brother, David (Tracy Johnson) Shipley of Grand Ridge; her sister, Lori (Mike) Miller of Marseilles; as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by one son, John Clifton Cherry, her paternal grandparents, Virgil and Mildred Shipley, and her maternal grandparents, Frances Jackson and Leo Holliday.

Pam was a member of St. Francis of Assisi Church. She was an honorary member of the Ottawa River Rescue Squad. Her hobbies included sewing, knitting, crocheting, and camping. She cherished her time spent with her family and proudly claimed the title of “Stay In the Van Mom” as she transported her sons to their various activities. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a charity to be designated at a later date.
