Orville N. "Tad" Stone

OTTAWA-Orville N.”Tad” Stone, 76, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, November 5, 2012, at OSF Saint Elizabeth Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, November 9, 2012 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend David Kipfer officiating. Burial with full military rites by the Ottawa Veterans' Group will be in St. Columba Cemetery in Ottawa. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Thursday, November 8, at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Richard and Allen Stone, Joe Vicich, Chris Erickson, and Thomas Downing. Honorary pallbearers will be Cody Cole.
Orville was born October 16, 1936 in Ottawa, a son of Guy and Irene (Gillium) Stone. He married Peggy Holloway September 29, 1962 at St. Columba Church in Ottawa. He is survived by his wife, Peggy, of Ottawa; his children, Patti (John) Cole of Ottawa and Bob (Amy) Stone of Oglesby; two grandchildren, Cody Cole and Ava Stone; one brother, Thomas Downing of Batavia, Illinois; and three sisters, Joyce Hermann of Ottawa, Bernice Hackman of St. Charles, Illinois, and Joanne Ward of Mountain Home, Arkansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers, James, Arnold, and Donald Stone; and two sisters, Betty Erickson and Mary Jane Weitl.
Orville was a retired electrician. He served in the U.S. Navy from 1956-1959. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
