MARSEILLES – Nellie Florence Higgins, 88, of Marseilles, passed away Monday, October 29, 2012 at Rivershores Care Center in Marseilles.
Private family services will be held. Burial will be in Abraham Lincoln National Cemetery in Elwood, Illinois. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Nellie was born December 24, 1923 in Earlville, Illinois, a daughter of Richard and Louise (Manning) Thompson. She married Allen Higgins. He preceded her in death. She is survived by her children, Al and Tom Higgins, Evelyn Learned, Patrick “Mike” Higgins and Stanley (Rose) Higgins, all of Ottawa; and one sister, May Shawlinsky of Ottawa. She also leaves 20 grandchildren and 10 great grandchildren.
In her leisure Nellie enjoyed playing Bingo.
