OTTAWA – Naoma Davis Harcharik, age 86, of Ottawa, passed away Monday, January 19, 2015 at La Salle County Nursing Home.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 27, 2015 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Pastor David Daniel officiating. Burial will follow in Ottawa Avenue Cemetery. Visitiation will be held from 9:00 a.m. till service time on Tuesday morning at the funeral home. Pallbearers will be Herbert Davis Jr., Clint and Christopher Davis, Paul Kolesar, Rodney Fleming, and Austin Link.
Naoma was born August 31, 1928 in Deer Park Township, the daughter of Luther and Alice (Morlan) Winchester. She married Herbert Henry Davis, Sr. in January 14, 1948. He preceded her in death December 30, 1960. She later married John Harcharik He also preceded her in death. Naoma is survived by her children, Herbert Henry (Trinette) Davis Jr. of Ottawa and Lynn Marie Davis of Lenoir, NC; her grandchildren, Clint Herbert (Cari) Davis, Bryanna Benita (Paul) Davis-Kolesar, Michele (Rodney) Beard-Fleming, and Tiffany (Chris) Beard-Link; great grandchildren, Christopher and Colton Davis, Corina and Calie Kolesar, Luke, Allison and Matthew Fleming, and Austin and Jace Link;and her sisters, Delores Eiben, Alice Maltas, Maxine Super, Judy (Bob) McLaughlin, and Joyce Allen, all of Ottawa. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ronald, James “Harry”, Jackson “Jack”, and Carl Winchester; and three sisters Ruth Schafer, Diane Hicks, and Darlene Wilson.
Naoma attended the Zion Lutheran Church. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary as well as the Women of the Moose. Naoma’s pastimes included playing bingo, bird watching, walking, and antiques. She loved to dance. Her most cherished times were those spent with her grandchildren and her faithful poodle “Sugar”. Naoma’s passion in life was always to make everyone smile. The love from within to outward could be felt on one’s gloomiest day. Truthfully beyond nature’s beauty! The music in her heart, the sounds, made her dance as a feather floats. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
