Nada G. Hupp, age 83, of Ottawa, passed away Wednesday, February 23, 2011 at her residence. Funeral services honoring her life will be held 10:30 a.m. Saturday, February 26th at Faith Lutheran Church with the Reverend Peter Ward, Chaplain of Pleasant View officiating. Interment will be in West Serena Cemetery. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Friday at Faith Lutheran Church. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements. Nada was born January 24, 1928 at Chicago, Illinois, a daughter of William and Nina (Reed) Gentleman. She married George C. Hupp August 9, 1947 at Crown Point, Indiana. Surviving are her husband; children, Jan Carol (Dave) Sortore of Overland Park, Kansas and George "Skip" (Lois) Hupp of Ottawa. Nada also leaves her grandchildren, Jennifer Nada Chiriboga of Overland Park, Kansas, Amy Louise Hupp of Ottawa, Mary Melissa Kraft of Chagrin Falls, Ohio, George "Brian" Hupp of Olathe, Kansas and Meredith E. Hupp of Nashville, Tennessee; great-grandchildren, Ruby, Gigi, Lily and Theo Chiriboga; and several nieces and nephews. Her parents and two brothers preceded her in death. Nada was a member of Faith Lutheran Church and also attended First Presbyterian Church in Haines City, Florida where she and George reside in the Winter season. Nada attended Northwestern University for two years, and her final two years of college at the University of Nebraska where her husband was completing his law school education. She was also a member of the Monday Club, Zetema, the Daughters of the American Revolution, Colonial Dames, the Panhellenic Society and served on the board of Ottawa Home Nursing. Memorial contributions may be directed to Ottawa Regional Hospice.
