OTTAWA - Melvin E. Aldrich, 88, of Ottawa, passed away Tuesday at the Ottawa Pavilion. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at St. Patrick's Catholic Church with Rev. Philip Halfacre officiating. Interment will follow in Oakwood Memorial Park with Military Rites by the Ottawa American Legion Veterans Group. Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday at the church. Gladfelter Funeral Home is handling arrangements. Mr. Aldrich was born April 29, 1921 at Ottawa, a son of Nelson and Tereasa (Goetsch) Aldrich. He married Shirley Marek at St. Patrick's Church in Ottawa. He is survived by his wife, Shirley of Ottawa; step-daughters, Dellania Lorensen of Naplate, Mary Santoy and Judy Wilson of Ottawa. Also surviving are brothers, Howard and Leroy Aldrich of Montgomery, IL and a sister, Lucille Ducey of Interlochen, FL; 12 step-grandchildren and 4 step-great-grandchildren. Two brothers preceded him in death. Mr. Aldrich was a member of St. Patrick's Church and the Moose Lodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
