Matthew Joseph Koster Sr.

OTTAWA – Matthew J. Koster, Sr., age 86, of Ottawa passed away Thursday, July 19, 2012, at OSF St. Francis Medical Center in Peoria.
Private family services will be held. Gladfelter Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Matthew was born April 1, 1926 in Ottawa, a son of Matthew A. and Mae (O’Donnell) Koster. He married Jean Vandervort June 21, 1947 in Ottawa. She preceded him in death July 12, 2003. He is survived by his son, Matthew (Marci) Koster of Ottawa; two grandchildren, Kristina and Bradley Koster, both of Ottawa; and three great grandchildren, Miranda, Matthew and Bradley.
Matthew was a member of St. Columba Church. Also, he was a member of Teamsters Union Local 722. He was a retired truck driver, having worked for Stevenson Transfer for over 30 years. Matthew proudly served his country in the United States Army. He was a past commander of the Ottawa VFW and served in the Honor Guard of Post 33.
