Matthew David Brown

April 11, 1990 — July 26, 2023

Matthew David Brown, 33, of Ottawa, IL passed away on July 26th, 2023 due to a car accident.

Matthew was born on April 11th, 1990, to Joan and Harry Brown preceeding his older brother, Jason Brown. He was a loving friend to everyone who knew him. After Matthew graduated from York high school in 2008, he headed off to college to study psychology and to earn his HVAC certificate.

In 2018, Matthew met Tiffini Thompson at Portillo's #46 in Harwood Heights, IL. They spent just over 5 years of being in love, inseparable, best friends, and parents to Miles Thompson. Those who knew the couple said that their love was so strong that it was palpable.

Matthew loved Miles as his own and tried to always show him what it meant to be a good partner, friend, and influence.

In 2021, Matthew proposed to Tiffini by candlelight. They had spent the last 2 years planning their perfect romantic wedding.

Matthew held presidency at a local AA club. He had helped many members walk their journey to recovery. He always offered a helping hand or a comforting ear to listen. He has also started his new journey to become an Addiction Counselor through Waubonsee College in 2021.

Matthew was very loved and cherished by all who were fortunate enough to know him. He loved his family, playing guitar, listening to 90s grunge music, and helping others in any way he could. He is deeply missed.

He is survived by his fiancé, Tiffini Thompson, his stepson, Miles Thompson, his mother, Joan Brown, his father, Harry Brown, his brother, Jason (Caitlin) Brown, many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends; new and old.

Do not stand at my grave and weep
I am not there. I do not sleep.
I am a thousand winds that blow.
I am the diamond glints on snow.
I am the sunlight on ripened grain.
I am the gentle autumn's rain.
When you awaken in the morning's hush,
I am the swift uplifting rush
Of quiet birds in circled flight.
I am the soft stars that shine at night.
Do not stand at my grave and cry;
I am not there. I did not die.
