Marie Rose (Mussatto) Thompson, 92, of Ottawa, passed away Thursday, December 19, 2013 at Ottawa Pavilion.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday, December 26, 2013 at 11:00 a.m. at St. Joseph Church in Wedron with Father John Waugh celebrating. Burial will follow in DeBolt Cemetery, Wedron. Visitation will be held from 8:30 a.m. till 10:30 a.m. Thursday morning at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Pallbearers will be Russell and Mark Boe, Cleve and Austin Threadgill, Chad Arnold and Mike Hughes. Honorary pallbearers will be Mark and Lawrence Varland and John Meyer.
Marie was born August 28, 1921 in Ottawa, the daughter of Joseph and Mary (Faletti) Mussatto. She married Russell Earl Thompson July 24, 1946 in Sycamore, Illinois. He preceded her in death October 4, 2006. Surviving are her daughter, Nancy Thompson of Ottawa; two grandchildren, Mylinda (Cleve) Threadgill of Ottawa and Chad (Jennifer) Arnold of Oceanside, CA; and five great grandchildren, Austin, Aaron and Aric Threadgill and Jacob and Christian Arnold. She was preceded in death by one son, Norman Thompson; three brothers, James, Raymond and Joseph; and one sister, Irene Krueger.
Marie was a member of St. Joseph Church in Wedron. Other memberships included the Starlighters Group of the La Salle County Home Extension, the Illinois Valley Quilt Guild, the La Salle County Farm Bureau and the Dayton Women’s Club. Marie dearly loved her family and treasured time spent watching her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was an outstanding cook and loved baking treats for her family and many friends. Leisure time would find Marie sewing, quilting, playing cards or gardening. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family.
