SANDWICH – Margaret J. “Peg” Ve Zain, 77, of Sandwich, formerly of Ottawa, passed away Friday, December 19, 2014 at Sandwich Rehabilitation and Health Care Center in Sandwich.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 23, 2014 at St. Columba Catholic Church with Reverend David M. Kipfer celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Columba Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Monday evening at Gladfelter Funeral Home with prayers at 4:00 p.m. Pallbearers will be Jim, Joe, and Geoff Ve Zain, Luther Messer, James Eich, and Craig Hartman. Honorary pallbearers will be Daryl and Kameron Ve Zain.
Margaret was born October 15, 1937 in Brookfield Township in La Salle County, the daughter of Edward and Velma (Hollahan) Eich. She married Wayne L. Ve Zain on November 30, 1957 in Ottawa. He preceded her in death February 15, 2006. She is survived by three sons, Daryl (Debbie) Ve Zain, Joe (Karen) Ve Zain, and Geoff (Kari) Ve Zain all of Ottawa; a daughter, Peggy Cummins (the late Jeff Sherwood) of Sandwich; her grandchildren, Kameron Ve Zain and Brianne Cummins; two great grandchildren, C.J. and Jordan Fuller; a sister, Dolores “Dee” Littlebrant of Sandwich; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three brothers, Donald Eich, and Lee and Clyde Husted.
Margaret was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church. She had worked for Cargil Seed Company of Grand Ridge. In her leisure, Margaret enjoyed being outdoors, walking, drinking coffee, and eating out. She cherished her time with her grandchildren. She had a special love for animals, particularly dogs. Memorial contributions may be directed to Guiding Light Hospice, PO Box 124, Serena IL 60549.
