Margaret Cecelia Retz

Margaret Cecelia Retz, 90, of Ottawa, died Tuesday, November 13, 2007, at Community Hospital of Ottawa. Mass of Christian burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday at St. Columba Catholic Church with the Rev. Ron Dodd officiating. Burial will be in Holy Sepulchre Cemetery in Alsip, Ill. Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Mrs. Retz was born November 23, 1916, in Chicago to Thomas and Johanna (Carroll) McCourt. She married Arthur Leo Retz on March 14, 1970, in Ottawa. He died January 15, 1992. She was a graduate of Rosary and Mundelein College. She was an executive secretary for Swift and Company for thirty years. After her marriage to Arthur, she became a homemaker. She was a member of St. Columba Catholic Church and was a benefactor to numerous Catholic orders. She is survived by numerous cousins. She was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard McCourt. Memorials may be directed to the St. Columba Church or to the donor's choice.
