Margaret J. Jensen

Margaret J. Jensen, 100, died Thursday, July 24, 2008, at Kishwaukee Community Hospital, De Kalb, Ill. Funeral services will be at 12 noon Monday, at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Pastor Tim Johnson officiating. Burial will be in DeBolt Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the time of services Monday at the funeral home. She was born January 30, 1908, in Hyundahl, Denmark, to Marius and Dorothea (Dahl) Juul. The family immigrated to the United States in 1914 and settled in South Dakota. In 1924, she graduated from Ravinia High School, and then moved with her family to Redwood Falls, Minn. On March 5, 1930, she married Axel Jensen in Chicago, where they made their home until 1953. At that time, they moved to Wedron, Ill. He died October 1, 1992. Margaret was a member of the Wedron V.F.W. Auxiliary and was active in the Wedron United Methodist Church. She was employed for many years at the local cafe and later at St. Joseph's Health Resort until her retirement. In 1995, she moved to DeKalb, Ill., where she continued to live independently until 2003. She then became a resident of DeKalb County Nursing and Rehab Center where she made many friends and received wonderful care from the staff. She enjoyed playing cards and games, reading crocheting, crossword puzzles and rooting for the Chicago Cubs. She is survived by two sons, Jack (Geraldine) of Mokena, Ill. and John (Dorothy) of St. Charles, Ill.; four grandchildren, Kimberly ((David) Pitts of Mableton, GA., Julia (Brian) Busey of Ft. Collins, Colo., Jennifer Jensen of St. Charles, Ill., and Deborah (Selawe) Tau of Oak Park, Ill.; 3 great grandchildren, Jacob Pitts, Lauren and Brooke Busey; and a sister, Mary Wolsky of Yountville, Calif. A daughter, Mary Ann Jensen; a brother Holger Juul; and three sisters, Rosa Larsen, Ellen Benson and Anna Kolp, preceded Margaret in death. Memorials may be directed to the donor's choice.
