Leeward N. Maynard

OTTAWA – Leeward N. Maynard, 87, of Ottawa, passed away Saturday, July 14, 2012 at Ottawa Pavilion.
Memorial services will be held Friday, July 20, 2012, at noon at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Burial will follow in DeBolt Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until service time on Friday at the funeral home. Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Robinson, Nathan Robinson, Tom Maynard, Jr., Mike Maynard and Bob Iliff.
Leeward was born June 15, 1925 in Rutland Township in La Salle County, a son of Robert and Beulah (Green) Maynard. He married LaVonne Thomas June 14, 1947 in Ottawa. She preceded him in death March 29, 2010. He is survived by his children, Sandy (Gary) Robinson, Tom (Laurie) Maynard and John (Patti) Maynard all of Ottawa; his grandchildren, Jason Robinson, Nathan (Stephanie) Robinson, MaCayla Maynard and friend, Matt Feehan, Tom (Megan) Maynard, Jr., Kimberly Maynard and Mike Maynard; his great grandchildren, Brody Maynard, Liam Feehan, and Liviana and Isabella Maynard; one sister, Ninette (Russell) Iliff of Louisville KY; and many beloved sister in-laws, brother in-laws, nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Robert Leon.
Leeward was a farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ottawa and a member of the Ottawa Moose Lodge. Leeward was devoted to his family and cherished his time spent with them. Memorial contributions may be directed to the Ottawa Pavilion or the American Cancer Society.
