Kim Marie (Bowman) Erickson, age 55, of Ottawa, passed away peacefully in her home following an extended illness while surrounded by her loving family on Monday, August 11, 2014.
Visitation service will be held from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 23, 2014 at Gladfelter Funeral Home. Memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Sunday, August 24, 2014 at Gladfelter Funeral Home with Reverend Michael Dangerfield officiating.
Kim was born September 13, 1958 in Aurora, Illinois, the daughter of Robert Bowman and Mary (Krejci) Bearsley. The daughters Kim raised, Tasha and Miranda, and Kim’s life companion, Karl Kirk, survive her. Others that will miss Kim dearly are Tasha’s husband, Christopher, and Kim’s three grandchildren, Dalton, Cody, and Jesse; Miranda’s husband, Patrick, and Kim’s grandpup, Abigail Marie; Kim’s mother, Mary Beardsley, Kim’s brother, Bradley (Verna) Bowman and Kim’s niece and nephews, Jade, Hunter, and Bobby; and Kim’s brother Steve (Deb) Bowman.
Kim was an active member of the AFSCME Union. She worked as a correctional officer for the Illinois Department of Corrections for 19 years (Stateville and Sheridan Prison). Her pastimes included crocheting, sewing, gardening, baking and canning. She was a very creative individual whose talent was exhibited in her joy of arts and crafts. Memorial contributions may be directed to the family for a cause to be designated at a later date.
