Kenneth R. Kinzer, 96, of Utica, passed away 1:45 a.m. Friday, April 22, 2011 at the LaSalle County Nursing Home. Cremation has been accorded. Private family services will be held at a later date. Gladfelter Funeral Home is honored to assist the family with arrangements. Kenneth was born June 16, 1914 in Waltham Township, LaSalle County, Illinois, a son of Ernest and Myrtle (Hess) Kinzer. He married June Bagley February 17, 1939 at Ottawa. She preceded him in death February 5, 2002. He is survived by a son, Kenneth Arvin (Linda) Kinzer of Utica; a brother, Bernard Kinzer of Pawling, New York; and two sisters, Elizabeth (John) O'Farrell of Tallahassee, Florida and Ione Anderson of Northbrook, Illinois. He also leaves grandchildren, Kathy (Michael) Clay, Sandra Kinzer, Lee Anne (Garry) Fuller, Kristen Kinzer and Michael Kinzer; and five great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, June; a son, Randall; four brothers and one sister. Kenneth was a retired farmer. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Utica, but attended the Waltham Presbyterian Church. Kenneth was a member of the Mendota Elk's Lodge, the Waltham Curling Club and the LaSalle County Farm Bureau. Memorial contributions may be made to Vitas Hospice.
